Olson Kundig's Midcentury Restoration, Architectural Record
Alward Construction collaborated on the Berkeley Hills remodel of a residence designed by modernist architect John Ekin Dinwiddie in 1951. At the time, expressionist architect Erich Mendelsohn worked in Dinwiddie's office. Architect Tom Kundig of Olson Kundig oversaw the project, ensuring the team maintained the spirit of the house. An 8-foot wide metal canopy inset with a thick glass disk above the entrance sets the tone for the home.
